Meet the Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Be at least 16 years old.
Have a high school diploma or GED.
Complete an Approved Esthetician Program
Enroll in and graduate from a state-approved esthetics school. Elite Aesthetics Academy has an incredible program geared toward a medspa career. Programs typically require 600 hours of training, which covers:
Skin care techniques
Facials and exfoliation
Hair removal (e.g., waxing, threading)
Makeup application
Anatomy, physiology, and hygiene.
Students need to be aware there training IS REQUIRED TO BE IN PERSON FOR 450 HOURS. The state only allows a maximum of 150 hours in the Distance Education curriculum.
Apply for Licensure and Examination
Submit an application to PSI
Provide proof of your completed education or training hours provided by your school.
Pay the required application and exam fees.
Pass the Licensing Exams
You must pass the following exams:
Practical Exam: Demonstrates your hands-on skills in esthetics.

Esthetician: 20 credit hours or 600 contact hours, covering at least the following course topics: facials and skin care; facial makeup; hair removal; laws and rules; management, ethics, interpersonal skills and salesmanship; and disinfection, cleaning, and safe work practices. The number of hours devoted to each of these topics must be substantially equivalent to those provided in accredited schools approved by DPOS or CCCS.
