🎬 How to Make a Reel – Training Guide for Esthetic Students
Here’s a step-by-step training guide you can use to teach your esthetic students how to create a Reel for Elite Aesthetics Academy (Instagram / TikTok style). This is student-friendly and focused on building confidence while keeping content professional:
1. Plan Your Content: Choose a theme and decide on the format
Treatment Tutorial (ex: dermaplane, microneedling steps)
Day in the Life of an Esthetics Student
Before & After Transformation (with model consent)
Product Education (SkinMedica, Image, etc.)
2. Film Your Content: Film in a well-lit area with clean backgrounds in the academy. Natural light is best.
Use your phone camera vertically (9:16 format).
Keep clips short (2–5 seconds each).
Get a mix of shots:
Close-ups of treatment steps
Smiling client/student interactions
Tools/products being used
Before & after reveal
3. Edit Your Reel
Open Instagram → Reels (or TikTok if practicing there).
Import your clips or film directly in-app.
Use trending music/audio if appropriate.
Add text overlays (example: “Step 1: Cleanse | Step 2: Exfoliate”).
Keep it 15–60 seconds long.
4. Write Your Caption
Start with a hook: “Watch how we transform skin in under 30 minutes ✨”
Add educational info about the treatment.
Example for dermaplane: “Dermaplaning removes peach fuzz + dead skin for a glowing, smooth canvas. Perfect monthly maintenance treatment!”
End with a CTA (call-to-action): “Come in for a treatment with me at Elite Aesthetics Academy!”
5. Tag & Collaborate
Always tag @eliteaesthetics_academy
Add the Academy as a collaborator so the post shows up on both accounts.
6. Post Requirements
Reels: At least 15 seconds.
Carousel posts: At least 5 images.
Must remain professional, educational, and on-brand.
✨ By following these steps, students practice not only their esthetic skills but also digital branding — an essential part of today’s beauty industry.
Step-by-Step: Carousel Style Post
1) Plan (2–5 minutes): Pick ONE clear topic (e.g., Dermaplane tutorial, Day in the Life, Peel basics, Product education).
Audience takeaway: “What will they learn in 30 seconds of swiping?”
Structure: Plan 5–8 slides (minimum 5 required).
2) Capture Content
Aspect ratio: 4:5 portrait (recommended export 1080 × 1350 px).
Shoot list: wide shot, close-up, detail, human moment (eyes/smile/hands), result.
Lighting: bright, even, clean background; wipe lens; avoid harsh shadows.
Consent: Get written model consent for faces and identifiable body parts.
3) Slide-by-Slide Template (7 slides)
S1 – Hook/Title
Big promise + result: “Dermaplane Facial: Smooth, Glow, Makeup-Ready ✨”
Text overlay ≤ 8–10 words.
S2 – What/Why
One benefit per line: “Removes peach fuzz + dead skin → instant glow.”
S3 – Step 1
Short action + micro-tip: “Cleanse → Degrease | Tip: pat skin fully dry.”
S4 – Step 2
“Feather-light strokes at 45° | No pressure.”
S5 – Results/Proof
Before/After or texture close-up. Add a tiny “After” label.
S6 – Care/Pro Tip
“Hydrate + SPF 30+ | Avoid actives 24–48 hrs.”
S7 – CTA + Collab
“Train with us → @eliteaesthetics_academy (tap Collaborate)”
Add your booking or inquiry line.
For “Day in the Life”:
S1 Hook → S2 Schedule snapshot → S3 Class moment → S4 Hands-on lab → S5 Student tip → S6 Outcome (model smile) → S7 CTA.
4) Design & Readability
Keep overlays large & high contrast. Use 1–2 brand fonts max.
Hierarchy: One headline + 1–2 bullets per slide (avoid walls of text).
Consistency: Same margins, logo placement, and color palette across slides.
5) Edit & Export
Crop: 1080×1350 px (4:5).
Sharpen lightly; avoid heavy filters.
File size: keep images optimized; maintain clarity for skin detail.
6) Caption (required)
Include:
Hook: “Watch how we transform skin in 3 steps.”
Education: 2–3 lines clarifying what/why/aftercare.
CTA: “Apply to train / Book a model spot.”
Tags: @eliteaesthetics_academy and add as Collaborator.
Hashtags (example): #EstheticianStudent #Dermaplane #AestheticsTraining #DenverEsthetics #SkinEducation
Sample Caption:
Dermaplane 101: Removing peach fuzz + dead skin reveals instant glow and helps products absorb better. Post-care: hydrate + SPF 30+, skip actives 24–48 hrs. Want hands-on training? Apply to train or model with us.
@eliteaesthetics_academy (added as collaborator)
7) Posting Checklist (must meet for credit)
✅ 5+ slides in the carousel
✅ Clear educational angle (tutorial, day-in-life, product/class)
✅ Caption with training info
✅ Tag @eliteaesthetics_academy + add as Collaborator
✅ Model consent on file
✅ Clean, professional visuals; no music with explicit lyrics
8) Compliance & Professionalism
No medical claims or “guarantees.” Use “may help,” “can improve.”
Show single-use tools, sanitation, and gloved hands where appropriate.
Keep workspace tidy; protect client privacy.
9) Three Ready-Made Carousel Ideas
Dermaplane Tutorial: Hook → Why → Tools → Technique → Aftercare → Before/After → CTA
Chemical Peel Basics: Hook → Who it’s for → Prep → What to expect → Downtime → Results timeline → CTA
Day in the Life: Hook → Class prep → Lecture snippet → Lab hands-on → Student tip → Model smile → CTA
